The new Bengaluru International Airport is located in Devanahalli, around 30 kilometers north of Bangalore. The airport is India's first private-public partnership in the airports industry, with Siemens holding 40% stake in the BIAL joint venture out of the 74 per cent held by the private players.
Apart from being a promoter, Siemens has also equipped the new airport with the complete electrical, airfield lighting, IT and communications systems, passenger boarding bridges, escalators and elevators, a baggage handling system as well as the power supply equipment and a building security and automation system.
