Profit Before Tax (PBT) stood at Rs. 1,406 million, an increase of 99% over the corresponding period in the previous year. The company’s focus on growth led strategies, both in the domestic and export market supported the results.
For the first quarter ended December 31, 2006, Sales Turnover increased by 91% to Rs. 16,269 million as compared to Rs 8,511 million for the corresponding period in the previous year. The major contributors were Power, Automation & Drives and Industrial Solutions & Services businesses.
New Orders intake stood at Rs. 51, 275 million as compared to Rs. 41,623 million in the corresponding period of the previous year, registering a rise of 23%. The major driver was the mega repeat order received from Qatar by the Power Transmission and Distribution Division (PTD). Even after adjusting large orders in the comparable quarters of the last fiscal and current fiscal, the Order value rose by 50%.
The Profit Before Tax for the quarter ended December 31, 2006, increased by 99% and stood at Rs. 1,406 million against Rs. 705 million recorded during the corresponding period in the previous year.
The Profit after Tax increased by 100% to Rs. 981 million over Rs. 490 million in the same period of the previous year.
The Company’s Unexecuted Order Value position as of December 31, 2006 was Rs. 110,404 million, a rise of 56% (Last fiscal: Rs. 70,579 million).
As of December 31, 2006, Siemens Ltd. had 6,117 Employees (As of December 31, 2005: 5,299).
Commenting on the Q1 result, Mr. J. Schubert, Managing Director, Siemens Ltd. said, “We opened the year on a very positive note by bagging the single largest order in Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution world wide. With a healthy order book, we are in a comfortable position to realize our plans in the time ahead. To support our growth strategies, we are continuously enhancing capacities and resources, including manpower. He further added, “We have a good balance between the short and long cycle businesses, which is optimal for sustained and steady profitable growth. We are satisfied with our earnings development, which is in line with our volume growth.”
