The “Mobility and Logistics” Division provides hardware, software and service bundles for the optimization and automation of traffic and transport networks on road and rail as well as for airports and harbors. The newly created Division will be in charge of all the businesses of mobility and logistics management for people and goods. These include rail automation, infrastructure logistics, intelligent traffic and transportation systems along with all our electromobility infrastructure activities.
Complete Transportation and e-Vehicle Infrastructure (CTE)
The new Business Unit “Complete Transportation and e-vehicle Infrastructure” (CTE) located in Munich is an innovation leader offering intelligent solutions for improving mobility on roads while also increasing safety and protecting the environment. Reliable hardware and the most modern detection technologies and software algorithms are combined to optimize traffic regulation. CTE’s offerings range from energy efficient LED signals to scalable traffic computers, ultramodern traffic centers, and satellite-based toll systems for intercity traffic. Added to these are solutions that are essential for inter-modal end-to-end mobility, such as charging infrastructure and advanced parking space management. As a highly competent partner for cities and metropolitan areas, CTE offers true value added with hardware and software from the same source as well as the intelligent networking of both using information and communication technology. The topic of electromobility plays a central role in this area. In a sustainable, integrated infrastructure for electromobility, CTE combines its traffic management competence with the power grid and charging infrastructure know-how of Siemens. As a pioneer we support the cities of the future on their way to environmentally friendly electromobility.
Infrastructure Logistics (IL)
The business unit “Infrastructure Logistics” (IL) offers solutions for a seamless, highly efficient and reliable transport of goods and information. The core business comprises a comprehensive portfolio in the areas of mail and parcel logistics and automation, airport logistics with baggage handling, air cargo handling and IT solutions as well as the overall customer services that supports our customers with the optimization of their daily operations. The innovation center for new markets and customers and an IT segment top the portfolio off. “Infrastructure Logistics” is a competent partner for green, efficient and multimodal logistic solutions for both individual companies and cities and metropolitan areas to help them mastering current and future challenges. As a single-source supplier, Siemens provides turnkey solutions that include building technologies, project management, design, simulation, engineering, IT and state-of-the-art mechatronics components. Systems and information technology solutions include software modules, material flow optimization, supply chain management, e-business, warehouse and cargo management systems.
Rail Automation (RA)
The Business Unit “Rail Automation” (RA) provides signaling and control systems for worldwide mass transit and mainline rail services. The rail automation systems from the world market leader and pioneer of railway signaling systems create the relevant conditions for enhanced safety, punctuality, speed, capacity and energy efficiency both along lines and at stations. They open up the way for trains within the network and specify when, where and how fast trains are to travel. In future, a special focus of “Rail Automation” will lie on the optimization of entire operational sequences within rail transport. Under the keyword “Rail IT”, software solutions are being developed which ensure that complex, frequently existing information is intelligently networked. This covers operations control systems, inventory and maintenance management, fleet management, staff deployment planning, and passenger information systems. RA develops innovative solutions in the fields of train control, interlocking systems, operations control systems, components, track vacancy detection, level-crossing protection, rail communications, and cargo automation.
