Increasing passenger traffic and rising expectations of frequent fliers means growing volumes of baggage. Add to that rigid security requirements making it imperative to develop an ingenious Baggage Handling Service (BHS). To design a high-speed, Level-5 compliant BHS network, Siemens combined its technological expertise with BIAL’s comprehensive infrastructure.
A vital aspect of this BHS network is the state-of-the-art in-line baggage screening system that uses a combination of automated and manual screening processes. At the end of the conveyor lines, three baggage make-up carousels carry the bags that are ready for pick up to their assigned air plane. A stand alone out-of-gauge baggage conveyor line is also installed to transport oversized passenger baggage.
This BHS is remotely controlled through SCADA( Supervisory Control and data Acquisition) system which ensures monitoring of the system intelligently for higher availability.
