When it comes to making a difference to the lives of our children at the St Catherine's Home – we believe, that in addition to providing healthy food and a nurturing environment to reside, it is vital to heal their soul from the turmoil and abuse experienced in their childhood. Siemens, together with the St. Catherine's Home, has initiated a program called Happy Feet, wherein an innovative form of dance is combined with counseling and life skills education. Happy Feet is a one-year program that began in February 2007 and is already showing positive results. There are about 5 sessions every week, each lasting for an hour. It begins with a round of casual conversation with the children. Subsequently, they are taken through a special form of dance, after which a specialist counselor talks to these children. The difference in the way these children open up before and after the dance session is remarkable. Their minds are freed, they are more trusting and ready to accept the process of healing. Happy Feet provides children with opportunities to channelize their troubled energies into constructive and aesthetic expressions and addresses their psychosocial concerns in an interactive and interpretive manner.
